class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Out of all the people in the world, somehow, one person becomes different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why this person?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why am I drawn to them so deeply?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why did we meet at that exact moment in our lives?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And why, even after we\u2019ve gone our separate ways, can I still not completely forget them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to love, we encounter these kinds of \u201cwhy\u201d questions again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whenever I think about the connection between two people, I find myself thinking about time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We tend to judge relationships by what is happening <strong>right now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are we talking?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are we seeing each other?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Does this person love me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are we still together?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when someone is no longer beside us, it can feel as though the relationship itself has ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But has it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is a connection between two people really defined only by the present moment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is the time before two people meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moment they finally meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The time they spend together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moments when they misunderstand each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The time they spend apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then, there is the future that neither of them has seen yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I think of love not as a single moment, but as the entire timeline two people have shared\u2014and the timelines that may still lie ahead\u2014I begin to see something very different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just because two people separate doesn\u2019t mean every moment they shared disappears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And just because a relationship ends doesn\u2019t erase the fact that they once found each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, meeting someone changes the direction of your entire life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even if the relationship itself comes to an end, the future that was created because you met that person may continue to unfold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is where love becomes especially mysterious to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are people we haven\u2019t seen in years, yet somehow, we still can\u2019t completely forget them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We no longer talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are living completely different lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They may no longer have any place in our present reality, and yet, suddenly, something brings them back to mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The way they moved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moments we shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even the person we were when we were with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Somehow, time doesn\u2019t completely erase it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it\u2019s simply lingering feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it\u2019s because certain memories leave a deeper imprint than others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what if time isn\u2019t as linear as we experience it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if the future contains countless possibilities that we simply haven\u2019t reached yet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then perhaps there is a possibility that two timelines, separated today, could cross again somewhere in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don\u2019t want to simply call that \u201cdestiny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, I think the connection between two people is far too complicated to be explained by one word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And an entire future that neither person can see yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of these things overlap in ways we may never fully understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And somehow, a relationship is born from that intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why love is filled with so many \u201cwhat ifs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if we had never met that day?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if I had chosen different words?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if we had met a little earlier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if we had met a little later?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What if we had met at a completely different point in our lives?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I think about it that way, maybe love isn\u2019t only about two people falling for each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it is also about <strong>two timelines finding each other.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why I see the idea of a \u201csoulmate\u201d a little differently, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe a soulmate isn\u2019t necessarily the person who stays beside you for the rest of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it can be the person who changes the direction of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who changes the way you see the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who teaches you how deeply you are capable of loving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who forces you to look more honestly at yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And sometimes, the person who remains somewhere inside your story long after you have gone your separate ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that person can be a soulmate, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if time really is more complicated than we imagine, perhaps two timelines that are not connected today can cross again somewhere in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, there is no scientific way to prove that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So I\u2019m not saying this as a fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is simply one way I choose to think about love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because I believe there is more to a relationship than what we can see in the present moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the connection between two people may exist not only in the present, but across everything that came before\u2014and everything that has yet to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So just because two people are apart right now doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that everything between them has ceased to exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But that doesn\u2019t mean we should sit around waiting for someone to come back, either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What matters is continuing to live your own life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep moving toward your own future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if there is still someone who remains quietly in your heart, you don\u2019t have to force yourself to erase them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe their story in your life didn\u2019t simply end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe it exists on a different timeline than the one you are living right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe, somewhere along the road, those timelines will cross again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, as Obon approaches in Japan, I find myself thinking about something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Traditionally, around August 13, the boundary between this world and the world beyond is believed to become a little thinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The past feels a little closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People remember those who are no longer here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And somehow, that idea feels strangely similar to love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are invisible boundaries between people, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the completely separate lives we are living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet somehow, there are people who cross those boundaries and find us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And there are people who, even after we separate, never completely disappear from our hearts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that is what a connection really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The moment when two timelines cross, even if only for a little while.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is why, when I think about love, I don\u2019t want to focus only on what is happening right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I want to ask myself something deeper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How did my timeline change because I met this person?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Love isn\u2019t simply about two people standing beside each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, it is about two lives crossing paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And because of that encounter, the direction of the future changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that is the real mystery of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps every time we meet someone we truly love, we are opening a door to a future we have never seen before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A future that, until that moment, didn\u2019t exist for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe somewhere beyond what we can see\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">beyond distance,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">beyond timing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">beyond the present moment\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">there are still timelines waiting to cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maybe love is not only about finding someone in this moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Maybe it is about discovering which parts of our lives were meant to intersect\u2014and what becomes possible
