I\u2019ve always believed that before we can truly understand other people, we have to understand ourselves first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What hurts us.
What we\u2019re afraid of.
Why certain words make us angry.
Why we interpret someone\u2019s behavior as rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we never take the time to understand those things, it becomes very easy to decide,
\u201cThey\u2019re the problem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And once we do that,
we can end up going around in circles,
never really moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you feel like someone has rejected you,
did they actually reject you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, sometimes they really do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve felt rejected many times myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there is a difference between \u201cI was rejected\u201d<\/strong>
and \u201cI felt rejected.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those two things are not always the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being able to recognize that difference can completely change the way we understand other people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And understanding someone doesn\u2019t mean agreeing with everything they say or do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can disagree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can still not understand them completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But you can pause for a moment and ask yourself,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy does this person see things this way?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That simple willingness to look beyond your own perspective can change an entire relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being intelligent doesn\u2019t automatically mean you understand people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having knowledge and having the ability to understand someone\u2019s heart are two completely different things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes what matters most is the ability to put your own perspective aside for a moment and genuinely try to see the world through someone else\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And this becomes especially important in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no need to say it. You should already know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe those are some of the most dangerous words in a close relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t understand how he feels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t understand how she feels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So you think,
\u201cMaybe this relationship just isn\u2019t going to work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But is that really the truth?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe they\u2019re thinking about you more than you realize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe they simply don\u2019t know how to put their feelings into words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe they\u2019re afraid to say what they really feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe they\u2019re staying quiet because they don\u2019t want to hurt you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And maybe you\u2019re doing the exact same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why I don\u2019t want people to give up on communication halfway through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Silence isn\u2019t always kindness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not saying anything isn\u2019t always the right thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes, the feelings we never express become invisible to the person we wanted to reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And perhaps the most frightening thing of all is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not realizing that you\u2019re hurting someone while believing that you\u2019re doing nothing wrong.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we don\u2019t understand ourselves,
it becomes much harder to truly understand someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why I believe that whether it\u2019s love or any other relationship,
the first person we may need to face isn\u2019t the person standing in front of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might be ourselves.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Know yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understand your emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understand your weaknesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And only then can you begin to truly imagine what might be happening inside someone else\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of saying,
\u201cI don\u2019t understand,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ask yourself,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan I try to understand?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As long as that feeling still exists,
there is still room for two people to sit down,
talk,
and find their way back to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And while you\u2019re thinking,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t care about me anymore,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

there\u2019s a chance that, at that very moment,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

they may be thinking about you more than you could ever imagine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
