I believe that Halloween can, in some ways, be compared to Obon, the traditional Japanese festival honoring the spirits of the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In both traditions, there is a shared idea of remembering those who have passed away and turning our hearts toward a world beyond what we can see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, Halloween is associated with age-old traditions and beliefs about demons and evil spirits that may seek to harm the living. I believe that we can respect these beliefs and take seriously the ideas that have been passed down through generations. Christian teachings also emphasize the importance of guarding ourselves against evil and protecting our hearts through faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is precisely why I believe this is a time to reflect on how we can protect ourselves and the people we hold dear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe there is also great meaning in listening to the stories and experiences of others, learning about their individual thoughts and feelings, and sharing Halloween cards with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halloween should be about more than simply having fun. It can be an opportunity to acknowledge the mysteries of the unseen world, deepen our connections with one another, show compassion, and look out for each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, these are the values I hope to share through Halloween: faith, mutual care, and the importance of protecting one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
